The JetCar is a water-powered mini supercar that skims across the turquoise water off Nungwi and Kendwa at speeds that will have you laughing out loud —and, if you want it, dips its nose beneath the surface before shooting back up in a burst of spray.
No licence, no experience and no swimming skills are required. After a short safety briefing you take the wheel yourself, with a trained instructor riding alongside or shadowing you on a support boat the whole time. It is one of the newest water activities on the island and easily the most photogenic the calm, shallow, postcard-blue water of Zanzibar’s north coast is close to perfect for it.
Great for couples, families with teens, groups of friends and anyone who wants a holiday video that nobody back home will believe.

Tour Plan
Arrival and welcome — 15 minutes before your slot Meet our team at the JetCar base on the beach in Nungwi. You will be checked in, introduced to your instructor and fitted with a life jacket. Leave valuables in the secure storage at the base.
Safety briefing and driving lesson — 10 minutes Your instructor explains the controls: throttle, steering, how to turn safely, how to slow down, and the hand signals used on the water. Everything is straightforward most guests feel confident within a couple of minutes. Nervous first-timers can ask for a gentler ride, and confident drivers can ask to be shown the dive manoeuvre.
Your ride on the water — 15 / 30 minutes (depending on package) You take the wheel and head out into the bay between Nungwi and Kendwa. Open the throttle along the straight, carve some turns, feel the spray, and if you choose push the nose under and let the JetCar surface again like a dolphin. Your instructor stays close throughout and can take over at any moment if you would rather just enjoy the ride as a passenger.
Photos and finish — 15 minutes Back at the base, catch your breath, rinse off and collect the photos and video taken during your session. Kendwa's beach bars and Nungwi's sunset spots are right there if you want to keep the afternoon going.
