Overview
The Sea Walk is the easiest way anyone has ever invented to get to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. You climb down a short ladder wearing a specially designed helmet that keeps a continuous supply of fresh air around your head and then you simply stand up and walk on the seabed, surrounded by reef fish, coral gardens and that famous Zanzibar blue.
Your hair stays dry. Your glasses stay on. You breathe normally through your nose and mouth, exactly as you do on land. There is no mask clamped to your face, no regulator in your mouth, and no need to know how to swim. A professional instructor is beside you underwater for every minute of the walk, and a safety team stays on the boat above.
It is one of the best family activities on the island grandparents, nervous first-timers and children old enough to follow instructions can all do it, and everyone comes up grinning.

Tour Plan
Hotel departure / meeting at the base Your day starts at the dive centre on the north coast, where you will be welcomed, registered and asked to complete a short medical declaration.
Briefing — Your instructor explains how the helmet works, how to equalise the pressure in your ears, and the simple hand signals used underwater — OK, up, down, problem. You will practise the signals before you get in the water. This is the part that turns nerves into excitement.
Boat ride to the site — 10 to 15 minutes A short, scenic ride out to the sea walk platform. On a clear morning you can see the reef below you the whole way.
The sea walk — 10 minutes underwater You climb down the ladder and the helmet is lowered onto your shoulders at the surface — it feels heavy in the air and almost weightless once you are under. Then you descend to the platform and start walking. Shoals of sergeant majors, angelfish and clownfish come in close, especially when the instructor brings out food for them. Your guide stays right beside you, points out what to look at, and takes photos of you on the seabed.
Back to the boat and return — Surface, hand back the helmet, dry off, and head back to shore with a drink in hand. Your photos and video are shared with you afterwards.
